Water Emergences are categorized as follows:
Class 1 – Clean water: A spill relatively free of contaminants.
Class 2 – Gray Water: Water contains a significant level of contaminants, but not containing any sewage.
Class 3 – Black Water: Water contains a high level of unsanitary contaminants.
Class 3, or Black Water, contamination poses the greatest health risk and requires the removal of any affected carpet. However, area rugs can sometimes be sanitized and salvaged by a qualified carpet-cleaning contractor such as Rapid Restoration.
